Karen Hewitt
Karen Hewitt, M.Ed., is a culture creator, community builder, rest advocate, and creative visionary with expertise in Culture and Diversity Strategy, Leadership Development, and Team Building. As the Founder of K Hewitt Consulting and Co-Founder & COO of The Ohio REST Collective, she champions equity, belonging, and transformative change, particularly centering Black and LGBTQ+ experiences and wisdom.

Her background spans education, workforce development, and nonprofit leadership, with a career that began as a collegiate women's basketball coach before evolving into leadership roles in HR, DEI strategy, and organizational culture management. Karen has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2020 Create Columbus Visionary Award, 2022 CEO Columbus Future 50 Fellowship, and 2023 African-American Leadership Academy Fellowship.

Beyond her professional work, Karen is a published author, poet, and artist, performing under the name Karen Marie. She has contributed to anthologies such as Culture Impact: Strategies to Create World-Changing Workplaces and authored Grounded: A Collection of Healing Spoken Word Poetry and Fire: Poetic Memoirs of a Movement. Her performances span spoken word, improv comedy, and music, including a featured role in Counterfeit Madison’s Aretha Franklin Tribute at the Lincoln Theatre.

Karen is also deeply engaged in community leadership, serving as President of The Buckeye Flame Board of Directors and a Board Member for Zora’s House. She is known for her ability to facilitate complex conversations with humor, heart, and strategy, ensuring that organizations and individuals alike move from vision to tangible action.

She resides in Columbus, Ohio, with her wife Erin and their cat Temple, and continues to inspire and cultivate spaces where people feel safe, valued, and seen.
